A Single Rose
Lonely the flower stands,
Across the summer sands.
It's radiant glow
Casts a beautiful show.
The sun reflects off
The red petals, soft
From the rains before.
It's thirsty, nevermore.
Looking out from the shore,
Many question what it's for.
The red petals fly, contrasting
Fiercely with the surroundings.
Some disgrace it for thinking
It's own mind, for speaking
It's opinion. They turn away,
While the lonely one sways
By the breeze. I see
A single rose, looking out to sea.
