__________________________________Finished Art_______

Over the course of my high school career, I took a semester of 2D Art, one semester Digital Graphics, a year of Drawing, a year of Painting, and a year of Photography, Mixed Media, and Seminar Art, all as separate classes. When I applied to college, I actually applied to Boston University's College of Fine Arts. However, as I looked at my class schedule, I realized that art was not what I wanted to do as a concentration, and I quickly switched out of the art school. But, having taken so many art classes in high school, I do have some portfolio pieces to show for it.

Audrey : Digital graphic, Adobe Photoshop. 1999.
I've always been an Audrey Hepburn fan. This piece features a quotation by her, and those eyebrows are killer.

  Bicycle : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
A bike against a lamppost.

Blossom : Prismacolor colored pencils, 2000.
Personally, I think this is a weak drawing of a rose.

  Branches, Negative : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
Tree branches in positive and negative.

  Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 3, Cat 4 : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
My cousins have a cat, so I stalked her around the house with my camera, naturally! Eventually she began to pose for me!

  Chinatown : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
A store window and its reflection in Philadelphia's Chinatown.

  Garbage 1, Garbage 2 : Digital graphics, Photoshop, 1999.
Our assignment was to create a CD cover for a band we were fond of. I was very fond of Garbage at the time.

  Hanabi : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
One of my favorites. "Hanabi" is Japanese for "fireworks."

Les Parapluies des Enfants : Acrylic paint, 2001.
This piece is the one I'm the most proud of to date. I spent a large bulk of a semester on this, and although someone offered to buy it, I did not have the heart to sell it. When I finished this, I took a step back and realized I could then say, "I'm a painter."

Midday, Waning Afternoon : Acrylics & palette knife, '01.
An imaginary landscape, two different times of day. These two pieces I actually sold to a visiting artist at school.

  Piano Player : Charcoal, 2000.
My music and art collide. Also another favorite of mine.

  Raised Eyebrow : Graphite, 2000.
A self-portrait with one of my signature facial expressions.

  Self 1, Self 2, Self 3 : 35mm b/w photo, 2002.
The same negative, developed differently each time. The second and third times were accidents, but I liked the result.

  Silent Language : Charcoal, 2000.
Our assignment was to draw a small reflection of these huge charcoal drawings that our class had been working on as a group together. The hands at the bottom look like sign language, but they don't actually symbolize words or anything.

  Still Life : Graphite, 2002.
Let me say first and foremost that I despise still lives, which is why this piece was so painful to draw. However, it was required of Boston University's application, so I had to do it.

  Truth : Digital graphic, 1999.
Our teacher gave each student a different set of objects. We had to scan in these objects and incorporate each one into a single piece. This was my result. Another favorite of mine.

  Hand 1, Hand 2, Hand 3 : Wire, bronze wire, 2003.
Messing around in Mixed Media class. I was bored and I felt like doing something 3D and straight-forward in meaning. I had a lot of fun working with the clamps and the wires.

  Double-sided bench, view 2, view 3 : Mixed media, 2003.
This project was my worst enemy throughout my senior year. A lot of my projects end up being love-hate relationships, but this chair, this chair I truly wanted to burn to Hades. This chair project literally gave me nightmares. I didn't get along with my partner at all, which was worse. Our Mixed Media class was presented with gigantic construction spools to build chairs out of, so build chairs we did. Our chair ended up having two sides, and it rocks back and forth! Yeah. Good riddance.

(Once again, please do not reproduce any of my work.)
